Why did I bundle my game on Steam?
Simple. It’s a win-win-win for game devs, players and Steam.
Game Devs Benefits
- Work together on a common goal
- Build and expand your network
- Unify and multiply marketing efforts
- Leverage and reach a wider audience
- Introduce yourself and your games to new players
- Sell more game copies
Players Benefits
- Get a good deal on games
- Better value per *insert your currency here*
- Introduce new games and game devs
Steam Benefits
- Make more money (through their 30% cut)
- Provides a compelling offer for players
- Brings in and keeps players on Steam
Bundles also get better during festivals and sales when introducing extra discounts. Further heightening game sales.
What’s the result of all this bundling?
For me, our Sokobans with a Twist bundle accounted for 59 of 170 (34.7%) total unit sales of Abridge. Resulting in ~$237 in revenue (as of 7/3/2023). That’s a surprisingly good financial boost.
Wouldn’t I have received that boost otherwise? Probably not.
That’s also the point.
Other game devs leverage your success and work.
You leverage their success and work.
And together, everyone wins.
That’s it.
Huge shout out to Martin of Daisy Games for helming our Sokobans with a Twist bundle. 😃
